Until they find out about the benefits, many people wonder why anyone would ever get a gazebo. If you want one quick benefit, try to think of a time when you were enjoying your yard and it began to rain. Suddenly, the backyard isn’t an option, and the rest of your day will be spent indoors, which is where you spent the entire winter.
If that gives you an idea of how you might use a gazebo, or if you’re already convinced and are thinking about having one installed in your yard, read on!
The Gazebo Guidebook
What is a Gazebo?
When installed in a residential yard, gazebos are open wooden structures that offer a sheltered place to enjoy your yard. One of the best ways to understand what is a gazebo is to know what it isn’t. It isn’t a pergola, which does not have a solid roof. It is also not a shed, which has a solid roof and four solid walls.
In between those two, gazebos have a solid roof, but no walls. One exception to that is if you combined a gazebo and an outdoor brick or stone fireplace, which, of course, would act as a wall.
A gazebo can be of any size and shape but are generally rectangular, six- or eight-sided.
What Are Gazebos Used For?
Gazebos give homeowners a place to relax in their backyard, that’s protected from sun, rain and snow. Exactly how you use it is up to you. You can entertain guests; turn it into an outdoor dining area; add sheers or blinds for more privacy; run electricity for lighting, audio, or even TV; and whatever else you can imagine.
What Are the Benefits of a Gazebo?
